At Z.S. Thomas, innovation is a big part of our company. We believe in the importance of moving the electric guitar forward down its evolutionary path. There are so many wonderful improvements yet to be made to this instrument, it makes us long for the future when electric guitars will have greater functionality, aesthetics, and ease of play. Presently, we have come up with a few innovations the we feel are a step in the right direction, including an organic ergonomic body shape, and a potentiometer housing device that eliminates the need for cavity cover/access plates.
First off, the body shape. Our solid-body guitars have a concave shape that conforms to the human torso. The curved shape of the body is very difficult to achieve from the manufacturing stand point, but the end results are well worth the extra effort. These guitars rest more comfortable against your body facilitating longer hours of play without fatigue. The shape also functions to give you greater control over your instrument. When a guitar conforms to your shape it almost becomes a part of you. It sticks with you while your playing. The feel of a Z.S. Thomas guitar is like the feel of an extra appendage. Never has a guitar been more easy to manipulate into playing position, and to keep it there once it is.
Now the Pot Pods. Pot Pods are small potentiometer mounting structures that fit into pre-drilled holes on an electric guitar. Once installed, the mounting structures are rendered invisible by the guitar knobs creating a hidden location for the electronics to be installed. What this means for you is no plastic cavity covers on the back of your instrument. When you pick up a Z.S. Thomas guitar, there is no indication of how the electronics were installed only solid, uninterrupted, beautiful wood grain.
