On a Z.S.Thomas guitar, the pot cavities are routed into the face of the guitar where they can be covered by the knobs. In this way we can build a guitar that has no visible access plates.
We've been working hard to develop a product that allows the average luthier, to easily achieve the same results. Potentiometer Pods are cylindrical plastic capsules that can be installed in new electric guitars. These plastic capsule serves as a housing for your guitars potentiometers. They are basically stationary platforms for your potentiometers to mount to.
Our P.A.F (patent applied for) Potentiometer Pods are available for purchase to the general public. The Pot Pods are designed to fit inside a pre-drilled holes cut with a forstner bit. The whole Pot Pod assembly consisting of a plastic cylindrical bracket, and lid. is hidden once the knob is put into place. To access your guitars electronics you simply remove the knob and open the pod with a phillips head screwdriver.
Pot Pods will work with virtually any style solid-body guitar. It's even possible to use them on sloping or curvy guitar surfaces where traditional cavity covers are impractical. What's more is Pot Pods are easy to install. Typical guitar electronics cavities are made with a router. To install a Pot Pod system you need but to drill 1 1/4" holes for the pods and a few smaller connecting holes inside the body.
What your left with is a guitar that is completely free of plastic covers. Your instruments will look cleaner, and will show off more of that beautiful wood grain or candy paint job than ever before!

With Potentiometer Pods there is no reason to ever have to use plastic cavity covers on your instrument again.
Blend Pods: For our customers who desire a pickup selector switch we recommend using one of our Blend Pods instead. They are much more versatile than standard switches because you can pan between the pickups and get a broad range of tones just by rolling the knob.
If humbucker coil splitting is desired we recommend using a pickup ring manufactured by Seymour Duncan®. It has a switch built in that controls coil splitting and switches between series and parallel wiring. Click
